Donnie Darko is a 2001 American psychological science fiction horror-drama film written and directed by Richard Kelly .
Donnie Darko is Highly confusing , Still Got its own formulas to satisfy every one . This film is pyschological thriller with sci fi elements in it . Donnie Darko will make viewers think harder , it will make our mind go out in the end of the film . Superbly crafted direction that will give us no clues until last portions .
This is not everyone's cup of tea , bcoz this is a slow paced drama that has moments to thrill , think and finally you get confused ! I think no one gets the movie complete after the first watch .Yeah You cant say anything about the movie by watching it Once .
After watching the 1st time i was confused . 2nd time too didn't gave me what i wanted to know . watched it very carefully third time to get the exact details .
Without Spoilers can't say the story Much. Its about donnie darko and his sleeping hallucinations . But its just not hallucination but a message . To save the world he was the choosen one .How he does is the crux of the film ..
Direction is Top notch . superb slow paced narration which will not make us bored . With moments that thrills ,scares and confuses us .
Directors Cut is much convincing that orginal . Be sure to watch directors cut.
Jake Gyllenhaal is superb as donnie , his brilliant performance is another positive .
Cinematography is excellent . Some shots surely gives us horror + psycho feel , Music is also super !
Psychological elements will keeps us engaged in the movie . Climax will make us think,How and what just happened .
Donnie darko is a kind of movie which we should watch to get our mind worked up with some puzzles .
Overall : Highly confusing psychological sci fi drama . Watch it Trice !
