Kaalapani (English: Black Water) is a 1996 Indian epic film set in 1915 focusing the lives of Indian freedom fighters kept in prison during the British Raj.

Kaalapani is set in 1915, The film is about the lives of prisoners in British India who are brought to Kālā Pānī, the Cellular Jail in Port Blair,Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Kaalapani shows the suffering of Indians in andaman and nicobar cellular jail. Many leading participants of the freedom movement are held in the jail !! The Extreme conditions faced by the prisoners are crafted in a heart touching Way !
